A Living Legend: The Fort Worth Herd Cattle Drive
Watch history unfold as the legendary Fort Worth Herd - a majestic parade of Texas Longhorns - commands the streets twice daily at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. This living tribute to Fort Worth's cowboy legacy remains the world's only twice-daily cattle drive, inviting visitors to witness the raw power and untamed spirit of the American West.
Cattle Drive Viewing Locations
Make sure to catch the action at the Livestock Exchange Building or from the Observation Deck on East Exchange Avenue. Before and after each drive, the steers are available for viewing in their pens, offering plenty of photo opportunities.
Meet the Drovers
In the American West, drovers were skilled horsemen tasked with moving cattle across vast distances. These hardy cowboys faced brutal weather, treacherous terrain and countless dangers to guide herds to market. Today, our Fort Worth Herd drovers honor this legacy, wielding the same horsemanship and cattle-handling skills that shaped the American frontier.
Talk to them before each drive to hear their stories and collect unique steer trading cards.
Drive Cancellations & Weather
The Fort Worth Herd Trail Boss decides on cancellations due to weather or necessary site changes. Cattle drives are not held on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.
Important Safety Information
Please note: drones and other unmanned aircraft systems are not permitted during the cattle drives, for the safety of guests, staff and the cattle.
